The Rosalind Franklin Programme: Regional Cohorts

Posted on:

We are excited to share that we will soon be able to offer regional cohorts of the Rosalind Franklin Programme.

Since its introduction in 2021 just over 1000 NHS leaders have accessed this programme, gaining skills and knowledge to enable them to become outstanding innovators, leaders and team members.

Who is this for?

Rosalind Franklin is designed to support leadership development for those currently holding a mid to senior level leadership role. Agenda for Change banding is not a deciding factor, but as a rule delegates would be at Band 8 or above. Most importantly, we will need applicants to clearly demonstrate at least one of the following

• Be leading a project, pathway or service across a network or system (i.e. not just at a team level).

• Be leading teams of professionals (even on a temporary basis) or complex projects and initiatives between different professional groups.

• Be managing complex programmes and projects, substantial budgets, politically sensitive and significantly impactful work.

How does the programme run?

The Rosalind Franklin programme runs over 9 months, with a mix of online learning via the Virtual Campus (VC), 3 full day workshops and 5 half day Impact Group sessions (it is intended that all delivery will be virtual). Successful completion requires completing all modules on the VC (approximately 120 learning hours), submission of meaningful contributions via the VC (2 per module) and a 5,000 word final assignment. All programme elements are mandatory, and dates for workshops and Impact Groups will be available within the applications process.

How is this accessed?

We will be open to applications for our first regional cohorts from Autumn 2026. The regional programme’s content and structure is identical to national cohorts, and all assignments will be marked centrally assuring equitable outcomes and consistent governance for the programme. For regional delegates we will be charging £150 (this will be waived for applicants from NELA Partnership organisations). We cannot consider applications from delegates employed outside the NEY region, but cohorts will continue to be available via the national academy team at a cost of £1200.

Next Steps

If you feel Rosalind Franklin is a good fit for your ongoing development, now is the time to consider how and where you wish to influence change in your workplace. Begin by having an initial conversation with your line manager and explore together what this programme could help you address in your work place.

We are not yet open to applications as cohort dates have not been set but you can join the The Rosalind Franklin Programme: Regional Cohorts EOI list here. Those registered will receive advance notice of cohort dates.

If Rosalind Franklin does not sound like the best fit for your current leadership stage, but you are keen to develop into a more senior role, the Mary Seacole Programme may suit you.
