Organisation focused Session

The course is aimed at senior leaders wanting to demonstrate all aspects of equality into key deliverables like CQC, EDS, and performance metrics e.g. WRES/WDES.

Aligning your services to the Public Sector Equality Duty and upholding the Equality Act 2010 are two key deliverables as part of the NHS contract. This session will give you the confidence to demonstrate your equality duties and embed it into every part of your activity as an organisation/practice. Delegates will leave the session feeling more confident and competent to talk about all aspects of equality and address some of their challenges in terms of health inequalities, tackling recruitment issues and supporting staff retention.

The session will cover:

  • The Legal side: Public Sector Equality Duty, Equality Act and Equality Impact Assessments
  • Access and patient care: How this relates to the human rights of others
  • Demonstrate value: How to maximise your activity e.g. aligning to the CQC and other strategic deliverables

Individual focused Session

The session is designed for staff looking to develop their careers. The session is psychologically based and covers the following learning outcomes:

  • Have a better understanding of your locus of control
  • Have a better understanding of your Organisational culture ( instrumental vs terminal values)
  • Have a better understanding of the power of feedback – Protective hesitation
  • Have a better understanding of your Expectation vs satisfaction
  • Have a better understanding of your Opportunity costs

Using a positive action approach as per the Equality Act 2010, we will be looking to hold spaces for BAME staff in the region.

It is designed for staff working across the recruitment pathway, and those directly responsible for hiring staff.

  • Before the advert: The equality lens Writing the advert and things to consider
  • Preparing the panel and shortlisting
  • Preparing the interview candidates
  • Interview, outcome and feedback
