Re‑establishing the North East & North Cumbria OD Network – Join Us!

We’re refreshing the regional Organisational Development network for colleagues across the North East and North Cumbria, and we’re inviting anyone involved in OD, change, transformation or people‑focused improvement work to take part. This includes those with OD in their job title and those without — if you work with people, influence change or are curious about how to engage others in shaping their organisation, there’s a place for you here.

The network aims to provide a safe, supportive and barrier‑free peer space where colleagues can connect, build relationships and share the brilliant practice happening locally. It’s a space for those who may sometimes feel unsure, isolated, or “not senior or clever enough,” as well as those who want to grow their confidence, deepen their practice or simply learn with others. Our first session will be a chance to get to know one another, hear about some of the excellent OD work happening in our region, and understand the types of challenges and priorities colleagues are currently working with so we can design useful tools, learning and development opportunities together.

By coming together, we hope to make sense of what it’s like to work across the NENC system in 2026 and beyond, and build shared knowledge and resources that genuinely support our local organisations, places and communities.

Our first session will take place on 2 April 2026 to book a place please follow the link: North East & North Cumbria OD Network – North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy

Management & Leadership Framework Drop-In Session

What is the Framework?

The Management and Leadership Framework responds to reviews of leadership in health and care, including the 2022 Messenger Review, 2019 Kark Review, and supports the implementation of the 10 Year Health Plan for England.

Delivery of the 10 Year Plan objectives, and assuring safe and effective health and care services, requires NHS managers and leaders who are confident, capable, and focused on the evolving needs of staff, patients, and communities. The framework will offer a consistent approach to current and future NHS managers and leaders. It will apply to all managers and leaders, across all roles and organisation types.

The Framework currently consists of:

  1. The management & leadership code: the principles and behaviours required of all managers and leaders across the health and care system
  2. The standards:  the essential competencies needed for management and leadership – at every level, and in every role type.

These sessions are open to staff from organisations who have been part of Socialisation Phase, and those who are just beginning to explore next steps in their organisation :
