SUMMARY:L&M Framework Regional CoP
DESCRIPTION:To support planning for implementation of the Management and Leadership Framework across the region we have offered a Community of Practice (CoP) since January 2026. This will now continue\, as a whole region CoP as we move toward launch of the framework. \nThe CoP is open to all staff working across the region to support implementation of the framework within their own organisations\, and is open to all health organisations across the region. Each CoP will have a theme to structure conversations and exploration of ideas such as appraisals\, data and activity reporting\, recruitment strategies etc. \nNB: These sessions are not intended to support individuals seeking to use the framework within their own development\, or line managers supporting their teams through self-assessment and goal setting. The focus will be on strategic organisational implementation\, with an assumption that all attendees have established a baseline understanding of the framework and its aims. \nPlease be aware that joining instructions for this event will be sent out seven days before the scheduled day.\nIf you register with the waiting list\, please hold this date in your diary as last minute cancellations may happen. We’ll do our best to give as much notice as we can should a place become available.

DESCRIPTION:This will be our fourth regional Organisational Development network event for colleagues across the North East and North Cumbria\, and we’re inviting anyone involved in OD\, change\, transformation or people-focused improvement work to take part. This includes those with OD in their job title and those without — if you work with people\, influence change or are curious about how to engage others in shaping their organisation\, there’s a place for you here. \nThe network aims to provide a safe\, supportive and barrier-free peer space where colleagues can connect\, build relationships and share the brilliant practice happening locally. It’s a space for those who may sometimes feel unsure\, isolated\, or “not senior or clever enough\,” as well as those who want to grow their confidence\, deepen their practice or simply learn with others. \nWe will continue to identify shared priorities and challenges in order to co-create useful tools\, learning and development opportunities together. \nVenue TBC

SUMMARY:The Curious Leader: Leading with intention in an interrupted world
DESCRIPTION:Today’s leaders are expected to think strategically\, solve complex problems\, inspire innovation and make high-quality decisions\, often while moving from meeting to meeting with barely enough time to refill a coffee. The challenge is not simply a lack of time. It is a lack of transition. \nThis highly practical session introduces the concept of thresholds\, intentional rituals that help us shift from one way of thinking to another. Drawing on research from psychology\, neuroscience and anthropology\, participants will learn how small\, deliberate practices can reduce cognitive overload\, improve focus and create the conditions for deeper thinking. \nRather than asking people to find more hours in the day\, this session helps them make better use of the moments between tasks\, conversations and decisions. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand how attention residue and continual context switching reduce cognitive performance.\nRecognise different modes of thinking required throughout the working day and where cognitive friction occurs.\nDiscuss the value of rituals and thresholds in helping the brain transition between different types of work.\nIntroduce simple team rituals that improve meeting quality\, collaboration and deep thinking.
