The Managers Toolbox: The Accidental Project Manager

The Managers Toolbox offers a series of sessions with the aim of strengthening and developing skills and awareness around managing people, processes and problem solving. These workshops are open to staff holding a line management role, which has opportunities for cross boundary working.

This workshop will give an opportunity to explore the essential skills for those leading projects as part of their wider job role.

Key Learning Outcomes:

1, To introduce the core principles and skillset of planning, implementing and running a successful project in the health and care sector using the framework of ‘mindset, skillset and toolset’.
2, To provide an understanding of each of the key stages of a project (Planning and Launch, Implementation and Management, Closure and Lessons Learnt)
3, To equip participants with the skills and tools to enable success at each stage including prediction of issues and risks and how to address these if they occur.

By attending this workshop participants will be able to:
✓ Understand key terminology associated with project management – including what a project is, and is not
✓ Interact with stakeholders to understand the objectives, priorities and preferences
associated with the proposed project
✓ Create a clear project scope with clear deliverables, budgets and associated documentation
✓ Plan a timetable with key dependencies for the delivery of the project
✓ Collaborate with and delegate to key stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of tasks
✓ Manage issues, risks and create contingency plans
✓ Close a project and produce an end of project report
